The Dark Knight is hardly routine--it has a kicky sadism in scene after scene, which keeps you on edge and sends you out onto the street with post-movie stress disorder. See all 39 reviews on Metacritic.com.

The Dark Knight Rises was gloriously the best moment of my life in a movie theatre. It stands alone, peerless in the pantheon of superhero movies. The Dark Knight Rises It has been eight years since the citizens of Gotham City turned on the Caped Crusader and made him an enemy for the crimes and murder of DA Harvey Dent. Commissioner Gordon (Gary Oldman) has committed to fighting crime in Batman’s absence but the city faces a new menace, a criminal mastermind called Bane (Tom Hardy) who plans to burn the metropolis to the ground.
The Dark Knight Rises (2012) hasn't aged well. I remember preferring it over the far superior films, Batman Begins (2005) and The Dark Knight (2008), which, in retrospect, is almost criminal. It's a very decent movie with compelling cinematography and a magnificent score from Hans Zimmer, but the script is such a mess. Everyone in this movie has magical Jason Voorhees teleportation powers.
Let's look at the 5 most loved, and the 5 most hated, according to review aggregate site Metacritic. 10 Worst: Green Lantern (39) Martin Campbell's big-screen debut of the titular DC superhero's origin story was seen as pretty disastrous at the time and has one of the worst reputations in the genre.
The Dark Knight Rises 19% Which movie did you like and prefer more? IMO both masterpieces but I’ll give the edge to TDK due to the amazing cinematography and Ledger’s Joker. I won’t argue or write.

The Dark Knight Rises attempts to surpass the great expectations of its predecessor, which is silly—why attempt the nearly impossible?—but ultimately yields a fun yet less focused follow-up. Nolan approaches this film with what feels like a much broader stroke, attempting to do everything Bigger and Bolder: Bane's theatricality, the ever-expanding cast of characters (and relationship.
Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, for me at least, is a towering experience. Redefining the term 'epic', Nolan crafts a significant masterwork that is simultaneously flawed and intricate, delving into various political and social territories of Gotham City in an effort to not only expand the depth of the trilogy as a whole but to visualize a story of multiple emotional mountain peaks.

All of this and the prologue in the The Dark Knight is arguably better. In nearly three hour runtime, 'The Dark Knight Rises' is many things: potent, ambitious, thought-provoking, brutal, majestic, bold and tremendously thrilling. Eight years have passed since the fateful events of 'The Dark Knight'.
The Dark Knight Rises is out now on DVD and Blu-ray. The streets of Gotham are clear of criminals thanks to the spurious legacy of Harvey Dent, and after assuming the blame for his death the Batman has skulked back into the shadows. The Dark Knight Rises is an enormous work; Hans Zimmer’s thumping score is loud and relentless; and DP Wally Pfister’s framing is, on occasion, stunning. But Nolan’s determination to hurtle.Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight” is a haunted film that leaps beyond its origins and becomes an engrossing tragedy. It creates characters we come to care about. That’s because of the performances, because of the direction, because of the writing, and because of the superlative technical quality of the entire production.
